Screencap v1.2.3 adds browser language support

After seeing more interest from India and China, we wanted to make Screencap easier to use for more people. Today we shipped v1.2.3 with localization for English, Hindi, Simplified Chinese, French, German, and Spanish.

Screencap now uses Chrome's current UI language when the extension opens. If Chrome uses a supported language, Screencap uses that language across the extension. If Chrome uses another language, Screencap falls back to English.

What changed

• Chrome-native localization: Screencap uses Chrome's /_locales system and chrome.i18n API to select translations.
• Six supported languages: the release includes English, Hindi, Simplified Chinese, French, German, and Spanish.
• One language across the workflow: the popup, editor, capture overlay, and shared-image actions use the same Chrome-selected language.
• Localized controls: common actions, status messages, annotation tools, background presets, and shadow presets are translated.
• English fallback: if your browser uses a language that Screencap does not support yet, the extension stays in English.

How Chrome chooses the language

1. Chrome provides the browser UI language.
2. Screencap matches it to a supported translation.
3. Chrome's localization system falls back to English when no matching translation exists.

To test another translation, change Chrome's display language and restart Chrome.

Built for more languages

This release adds the first layer of Screencap localization. The translations use Chrome's standard extension structure, so adding another supported language means adding one more locale file. We will use this foundation to improve translations and expand language support over time.
